If marketing is a way of or a strategy to create awareness and bring the product/service(s) nearer to the target audience to persuade and elicit their emotions into purchase actions; then digital marketing is the simplest and fastest way to spread and/or execute the ideas behind the awareness-creation campaign strategies in the entire marketing model.
The entrepreneurs, the economic-gurus and the entire business world in today's digital and content marketing sphere embrace quite a great deal of topnotch high-tech marketing software ideas, strategies and/or cutthroat approaches to outdo each other in business. That is, in-terms of products/services, consultancy ideas and growth prospects respectively. In such an ever evolving event in a more saturated and competitive business environment, it makes every other business owner out there to employ different marketing techniques to stay on the edge of competition or even try to outwit the rest in marketing digitally.
But competition can never yield or achieve its intended goal without digital marketing plans, efforts or strategies purposefully and properly put in place for a particular and intended audience.

So, before we move on any further, let's first understand what digital marketing is.
What Is Digital Marketing?
Digital marketing is a process or technique that is used by both online and offline marketers in marketing of products/services, through the use of various technologies and media electronically i.e. via the internet, on search engines like Google, Yahoo etc, on print/online advertising, mobile phones and even on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Instagram, Pinterest, Snapchat among others. To bring services nearer to the market place - the audience; in a bid to persuade, influence, encourage and enlighten those target market audiences towards an actionable purchase of, and/or consumption of a product/service. It can also be done through the use of the mass media platforms like the TV, radio etc.All that has one main goal; to pass over information about (a product or service) to the end user(s).
Digital marketing can be long-term or short-term in nature, which means a longer term plan can be that which is intended to a impact a market with certain effects - according to it's goal, for more than 1year. To drive a repeated impact. While the short term digital strategy will yield benefits for your business, and it normally takes between (1-12months) period of marketing promotion to give you results. In either of the two plans the final intent is to yield positive results or success for an enterprise.
So, based on that and as I have indicated above, come up with a digital marketing campaign model that will suit each group/segment of your consumers.

Segmentation In Digital Marketing And Why You Need It.
Marketing is normally intended to pass information and create awareness to a certain group(s) of persons that are targeted, to influence them to purchase a product or service from its source. Here, the source can be that physical brick and mortar shop/store, online store, mobile merchants etc. So, the segmentation of customers helps a great deal. It can be done to identify and eventually group those various clients whom you are targeting to sell to, depending on several factors i.e;- The specific or main purpose and goal of the marketing campaign.
- The general scope of the marketing campaign.
- The customers demographics - like the age group of your target market, their gender whether male/female etc.
- Their locality, in terms of residence (where they stay).
- Their social-economic status/class e.g. are they working mothers/fathers (regardless of their marital status - whether married or single, separated or divorced), students etc.
- Their religious beliefs, among other considerations.
This is done specifically to ensure that you package the product/service in a certain way to suit the intended and specific target market(s). So that you are able to channel your marketing efforts to targeted and specific platforms that every other current/prospective customer(s) frequently visits or will most likely use to access information digitally.
I would say so, because I know very well that, for instance, what a student likes may not be the same as what a working (breast-feeding) mother or even a physical store owner would prefer when it comes to digital marketing. In terms of their preferred platforms and methods of doing business. The medium to reach them e.g. college students may prefer to use their mobile phones a lot; to compare, order and even buy goods online through e-commerce platforms such as e-bay, Shopify etc.
The students again can get information or even study online right from their mobile phones/tablets/laptops etc on the social media platforms like the Facebook, Twitter and others listed above.
So portability and responsive mobile design considerations are very essential in the mobile phone approach to digital marketing. It may fit in well as a strategy to reach, sell and meet the students needs since they will be able to access information from any screen size of their mobile phones.
Note: Mobile phone approach should be universal though, (i.e, it should be intended for every mobile phone user out there) and not only directed to the students alone. But as students, they are the majority and some of the key digital marketing campaign target groups in the mobile phone marketing sphere or approach. Think Snapchat, think Instagram, think Pinterest etc. So, students are among the key target masses who consume contents via phone from social media. That's why you need not to bypass such online targets and social media opportunities onwards.
Embrace Social Media, For Today's Digital Marketing Strategies.
According to these statistical numbers by statista.com, "it was estimated that in 2019, there will be around 2.77 billion social media users around the world" - statista.com. That means social media takes the highest percentage as the most effective channel of digital marketing information-dissemination and consumption globally. So, if you can plan and execute your social media marketing campaign strategies well, relying on such statistics then you will be able to create and track your contents performance, Ad trends/preferences and customer or visitor activities of your website/blog when you embrace digital marketing strategies through the use of digital marketing analytical tools and plugins, for you to track traffic and activities of your target audience, like;- The site visitors page views.
- Page impressions.
- Click through rates.
- Bounce rates.
- Time spend on the website and which particular blog posts/contents does well in terms of sales lead generations.
Conclusion.
Digital marketing basically encompasses all forms of marketing through which you can use various methods, tactics and approaches to reach your target audience, so that you can create awareness and enlighten them about availability of certain products/services. By doing that you provide them (target audience) with options towards addressing their needs and/or satisfy their search intents. So I will leave it at that, but in our next blog we will talk more about what are the types or methods of digital marketing?I hope this helps in guiding you a bit/more on digital marketing and what its all about.
